Recommended tackle would be 20 to 25 pound line, 4 to 6 ounce torpedo sinkers, and a variety of small J hooks.

Our 44 guys caught 388 rockfish, 211 whitefish, 6 sculpin, 4 calico bass, 2 barracuda, and 2 lingcod. Pretty good fishing all around. We spent the majority of our day bottom fishing since we had a pretty novice group. Daniel checked in for the Island Spirit out of Ventura Harbor Sportfishing. We are a definite go tomorrow morning. We have a half-day trip sponsored by Snapdown Swimbaits. We currently only have nine people signed up, but we are a definite go. We're going to be spending some time doing some bottom fishing in the shallower water, targeting rockfish, whitefish, sheephead, and lingcod. And we will spend a significant amount of time inside the shallower areas of the island trying to catch a halibut, seabass, bass, barracuda, stuff like that. So it will be a mix of some bottom fishing and some surface fishing.

We also have a full-day trip on Friday, departing at 6am, returning at 6pm. That one is sponsored by Mag-12 Swimbaits. We are a definite go on that one as well with a relatively light load. Tim checked in for the Californian out of Ventura Harbor Sportfishing. We got out with 18 people this morning and ended up fishing on the beach to start. We ended up catching a handful of sand bass and a few calico bass. It was a one-anchor job on the beach, then we ended up running over to the islands after that. We did our rockfish thing and ended up with 118 rockfish, limits of reds, 12 lingcod, a handful of whitefish, and a few sheepshead. Then we headed back to the shallows and ended up catching 11 barracuda and just over 22 calico bass and some other odds and ends for our day. Tim has the latest fish report for you below.
